Deepika Padukone in off-Shoulder Black Velvet Gown
Is it possible to feel both feminine and strong in the same outfit? If you’ve ever wondered about this, perhaps Deepika Padukone’s latest look, which she wore to the launch of her new film with Ranveer Singh, 83, will put your mind at ease. Yes, clothing that enhances your femininity may feel assertive and make a statement.
A deceptively basic column gown that shapes the actor’s slim structure is the style in question. It has a plunging neckline and a corset on top, and in this age of frou-frou, needless surface decorations, and so many sequins, it simply has velvet, which immediately conjures up images of old Hollywood elegance.
“For Deepika, we wanted to design something classic and timeless.” “But at the same time, we wanted it to be incredibly beautiful and sensuous because that’s very much her style,” explains Nainika Karan, one-half of the company Gauri & Nainika, who produced the dress for the actor. “The plunging neckline and figure-hugging silhouette with the lengthy train in deep green velvet were ideal for her tall and statuesque form.”
Even though their designs are nouveau and futuristic in construction, the designer duo’s distinctive style is old-world glitter, which they integrate in all of their creations, whether they are lavish silk taffeta gowns or printed sheer chiffon dresses.
Shaleena Nathani, who has been styling the actor for as long as one can remember, added to the vintage vibe of the look by giving her short hair Hollywood curls and winged eyeliner. The jewellery, which included stacked rings and a necklace with an emerald pendant, contributed to the overall charm.
“No one could have pulled it off better than Deepika,” says Nainika, who has dressed the actor numerous times in the past, some of which have become synonymous with her.
